Founded in 1919 by Theodore Vail, Horace Moses, and Senator Murray Crane. Junior Achievement (JA) Was created to inspire and equip young people; preparing them for a successful career in the global economy. In the early days of JA, The focus was to offer career-focused programs to high school students.
However, over the years, the scope of Junior Achievement now covers more activities including entrepreneurship, work readiness, and financial literacy. Currently, programs offered by JA include Germinator initiatives and JA of western Pennsylvania Scholarship programs.

Junior achievement of western Pennsylvania is an education non-profit for kids in grades K-12. JA of Western Pennsylvania offers programming that equips kids with a wide range of skills in line with the vision and mission of Junior achievement worldwide.

Since its inception, the JA of Western Pennsylvania scholarship has awarded a scholarship to hundreds of students in the K-12 grade. The scholarship program is targeted towards young JA participants. It is a part of efforts to support the progress of JA students across Pennsylvania.

Owing to the support received from EITC and OSTC funding, and donations from several beneficiaries, JA of Pennsylvania can sponsor scholarship offers for the following categories:
- Students in grades k-11th
- 8th Grade Students
- 9th – 11th Grade Students

2022 Ja Of Western Pennsylvania Scholarship Applications
2022 application for JA of western Pennsylvania is ongoing. The eligible participant may apply for the scholarship between February 1, 2022, and April 1, 2022. Below is a brief overview of each scholarship category.
K-11th Grades Students
Junior Achievement of Western PA Scholarship 2022 is now open for students in the K-11. The program is limited to students who attend low-achieving schools offering JA programming. Students who intend to attend these schools may also qualify for the JA of Pennsylvania scholarship if they meet all stated criteria. The scholarship offered in this category is worth about $3500.
Ja Of Western Pennsylvania Scholarship Eligibility Criteria For K-11 Grades Student
Students applying for the K-11 grade scholarship are expected to meet the following eligibility criteria.
1) Applicants must reside within or attend a low-achieving school.
2) School attended by the applicant must offer JA programs
3) Applicants are expected to maintain a GPA of 2.5 or higher
4) Applicants are expected to meet all stipulated scholarship program requirements set by the Department of Community and Economic Development (DCED) through the Opportunity Scholarship Tax Credit(OSTC) program.

1) Students must provide a completed application form with consent and signature of parent or guardian.
2) Transcripts and recent report cards detailing two semesters’ grades.

Deadline For Ja Of Western Pennsylvania Scholarship K-11 Grade
All documents and applications must be submitted by Friday, April 1, 2022, to your designated JAWPA Region. Applications submitted after this date would be declined. Selected students would be notified about their status by mail between May and June. Further information would also be provided on the website.
Ja Of Western Pennsylvania Scholarship for 8th Grade Students
8th-grade students can also benefit from the Junior Achievement of Western PA Scholarship 2022. The offer is open to Students of Catholic or Private grade schools. Similarly, students that will attend either of these schools are also eligible for the scholarship program. However, by the end of the 2021-2022 academic year, applicants must have a two-year participation experience with JA programs. Winners of the JA inspire scholarship receive a value of up to $3000.

2021-2022 Eligibility Requirements:
1) Students must have a minimum of 2 years of attendance in a school offering JA programming within the Diocese of Pittsburgh, Greensburg, Erie, or Altoona/Johnstown.
2) Student must have a GPA of 2.5 or higher
3) Students must meet all requirements of the Department of Community and Economic Development (DCED) through the Opportunity Scholarship Tax Credit(OSTC) program.

The application offers a value worth $1000 to students of Private or catholic schools who have participated in at least one volunteer-led, JA classroom program attending a Private or Catholic high school during the 2021-2022 academic year.

Robert Morris University and Junior Achievement Scholarship award a sum of $2000 annually to students. However, students are required to have participated in junior achievement programs in their junior high or senior high level to be eligible for this scholarship.
